Job Description:

  • Psychologist will be responsible to conduct mental health assessments to identify psychological needs, exposure to distressing events, capacity to cope with adverse events, survivors immediate needs, develop appropriate intervention plans.

  • Provide individual and group counseling to visiting women and girls with traumatic effects, and other psychosocial issues.

  • Offer crisis intervention, psychological first aid (PFA) and follow up support services for survivors.

  • Develop and implement tailored psychosocial support (PSS) plans in collaboration with case workers and medical teams.

  • Develop a compressive case management plan and intervention strategy based on the findings of assessment, most appropriate to needs identified.

  • Work closely with health care providers to integrate mental health support into primary health care and MNCH services.

  • Provide counseling on MNCH-related psychological issues.

  • Collaborate with case workers to ensure survivors receive holistic care (psychosocial support, basic and specialized medical care, legal assistance, and social support) through referral service.

  • Train staff on basic psychological support, trauma sensitive communication and implementation of specific considerations in providing primary health care.

  • As required, provide training to WGSS staff, community focal persons, support groups, and other stakeholders on mental health care of survivors, identification of survivors, and execution of referral strategies to link survivors with services.

  • Participate in professional development activities and trainings.

  • Participate in case conferences to discuss high-risk cases care management, develop safety and wellbeing plans for survivors.

  • Report writing of training events, workshops, monitoring visit reports, success stories, case study reports etc.

  • Maintain confidential case records in line with ethical guidelines and data protection policies.

  • Develop weekly and monthly work plans rotation visits to all WGSS and share with line management.

  • Assess program needs as per psychosocial support services and formulate requests to the project management accordingly.

  • Ensure that the relevant tools for need assessment, implementation, and reporting are being used during MHPSS activities as mandatory part of evidence keeping, archiving, and documentation.

  • Participate in testing, dissemination and evaluation of impact of interventions under WGSS approach.

  • Contribute in developing content for activities such as capacity building and awareness raising activities and protection messages (safety plans, violence escape strategies), training manuals, tools, testing scales and all other communication materials.

  • Along community mobilization team, contribute in delivering outreach community awareness sessions, trainings and capacity building activities on topics related to mental health care and prevention.

  • Act as responsible person for keeping MOVs of project indicators, support in developing appropriate reporting system, and ensure documentation of all project activities (hard and soft) has been done.

  • To carry out other tasks, as delegated by the line manager.
